"I was really young when I first met John. I think I was about 14 or 15. It was the time of the Hawaii Regional Championships at Turtle Bay. We ended up shooting at Rocky Point, and I ended up getting my first double page add with Hurley because of Keppler. Back then, I didn't realize that I made such funny faces when I surfed, but seeing the photos I instantly tried to change that. But when I saw myself in a Mag I was so stoked! It made me want to get more shots and actually pursue a surfing carreer. It was the spark I needed to get my ass on the road and make something of myeself"
